Montgomery Drafthouse

in: wheaton

The owners of the Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse are branching out. Some time this summer, the Montgomery Cinema and Drafthouse will open in the former Loews Cineplex 11 location in the Westfield Wheaton Mall. That will put this theater within walking distance from the Wheaton Metro stop.

The new Drafthouse location will have six theaters, a full restaurant and bar menu, and table-side service. First run films will cost $8.50 to $9 and they plan to offer discount admission during the week. One dollar movies on Mondays? What more can you ask for?

Wheaton Mall is a dangerous place..lots of muggings.
Hopefully they will have police escorts to and from the theater parking lot?

You’re kidding, right? Sometimes it’s better to not cower in fear from the outside world. I’ve been literally thousands of time to that mall and never been mugged. And I have never even had a police escort.

Yeah, personally I don’t find the Wheaton mall to be that scary. As a woman, if I was there late at night by myself I’d probably watch where I park. That way you aren’t walking through a vacant parking lot to an out of the way spot in the middle of the night.

But, I think that is a smart thing to do no matter where you are.

Wheaton plaza (thats what they used to call it) is not a scary place at all. I’ve walked at night from that movie theater many many times and never been frightened once. I used to love that place (the theater) and i think the place will be great again.
