August 14 to 22: Montgomery County Fair

It is time again for the Montgomery County Fair. If you’ve lived in a rural area, you probably won’t be wowed by the fair here. But, for an urban area (the fairgrounds are in Gaithersburg), they do a very nice job.

The fair runs from August 14nd through August 22nd. Tickets are $8 for adults, $3 for kids from 2 to 7 years old, and free for younger kids. You can get an all day bracelet for the carnival rides for $25. You’ll also need to give up $5 to park on site–but there is free parking with a shuttle at Lakeforest mall. You can find all the details you need here (this is a PDF file).

Skimming the schedule of events, I’d have to say the standout events are the cheese carving contest and the monster truck show. What more could you want in one event? Toilet decorating? Wait…it has that too.
