February 5: Jimmy Fallon at Warner Theatre

Soon-to-be-demoted late night host Jimmy Fallon will be doing stand-up at the Warner Theatre on Friday, February 5th. You can expect he’ll have some choice words about the programming shuffle.

Tickets are only $35, plus a $5 service fee, and can be purchased online now. The Warner Theatre is located near Metro Center.

January 23: The Bach Sinfonia’s Annual Chamber Music Concert

If you’re still making plans for this weekend, consider the Bach Sinfonia’s Annual Chamber Music Concert. The concert is this Saturday, January 23 at 8 PM and it will feature “period instrument woodwind quintet Circa 1800, performing works just on the cusp between the baroque and classical eras.”

Tickets are $28 for the general public, $25 for seniors, and only $15 students. And you can buy your tickets online now.

The concert will be held at the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Performing Arts Center at Montgomery College which is located on Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring.

January 10: Harajuku Japanese Street Chic Demonstration and Fashion Show

The Textile Museum is offering a “tutorial” and fashion show on the styles of the Harajuku district in Tokyo. These events are meant to tie in with the current exhibit on Contemporary Japanese Fashion.

Admission is $20 for non-members and $15 for members. They do request that you register in advance.

The event will run from 2 to 4pm on Sunday, January 10th.

January 23 and 24: WAM! (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart)

The Washington Ballet has won me over with the title of their current production, WAM! (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart). This ballet, starring the Washington Ballet’s studio company and vocalists from The In Series, details the childhood of the famous composer.

Tickets run from $19 to 38 and can be purchased online through this link. There are performances on January 23, 24, 30, and 31.

December 23 and 30: Read to Our Dog

Warming Shelter Hotline

You already know that the Snowpocalypse is on the way. Here’s a number to program into your phone before it hits–the DC Department of Human Services Shelter hotline.

If you see someone out in the weather, call in so the DHS can provide them with transportation to a shelter. For anyone not willing to go to a shelter, they’ll bring out blankets and warm clothes.

December 15: James Rosenquist, Painting Below Zero

Artist James Rosenquist will discuss his new book “Painting Below Zero: Notes on a Life in Art” at the Corcoran Gallery of Art on the evening of December 15th. Rosenquist started out painting billboards and now is recognized as important part of the Pop Art movement.

Admission to the discussion and book signing is $20 and tickets can be purchased now online.

The Metro stop nearest the Corcoran is Farragut North.
