September 16: The Demon Under the Microscope

Thomas Hager has written a very interesting book wrapped around the development of sulfa drugs during World War I.  The Demon Under the Microscope: From Battlefield Hospitals to Nazi Labs, One Doctor’s Heroic Search for the World’s First Miracle Drug follows the Germans at Bayer, the British group “The Lords,” and scientists at the Pasteur Institute as they scramble to find new ways to fight infections on the battlegrounds of the war.

You can meet Thomas Hager at Olsson’s Books in Dupont Circle on Tuesday September 16th. The event starts at 7 pm and there’s no admission charge.
